An independent home care agency founded just over a year ago has proved so successful that it has had to take on extra staff as well as moving into a purpose-built office.

With its headquarters in Barnt Green, Windmill Hill Care provides a sensible, “back to basics” approach to care, built around a traditional, person-centred service.

Owner Jackie Grant has chosen a team of hand-picked, trained carers to ensure that all clients are assured of a safe, caring and effective service, enabling them to live comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible.

The newest members of the team, covering the Barnt Green area, are all highly qualified carers with many years of experience.

Betty Turner has been promoted to Field Care Supervisor, and will work alongside Jackie to ensure the care service is delivered to the highest of standards – which are monitored by listening, assessing and recording clients’ points of view so that continual improvements can be made to the bespoke service.

Jackie herself is a trained nurse who specialised within the NHS in renal dialysis, accident and emergency and mental health services.

She is also a consultant to the care industry, and for the past 25 years she has lent her leadership expertise to many large and small care companies before deciding to found her own business by implementing the best of what she has experienced.

Windmill Hill Care is registered with the Care Quality Commission, and a recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated all aspects of the service as Good.

The team provides a specific care package for each client, based on individual assessment and ongoing reviews and paying attention to the client’s own wishes and needs.

A range of domiciliary care and support is available, including advice and assessment, sit-in and respite care, sleep-in and waking night services, domestic housekeeping visits and even a shopping service.

“We aim to promote independence and preserve dignity – our clients have a right to choice and opinions on the care they want to receive,” says Jackie.

“We always allow plenty of time for each client, with no rushing between appointments; clients will never receive less than an hour of our time.”

“Above all, we want to ensure that the client is treated with compassion, dignity and respect at all times.”
