Gentle treatment for pain

Posted on November 27 2017 at 10:01:18

If you’re struggling with joint or muscular pain, chiropractic treatment may be able to help – as it has done for many patients of Alvechurch Chiropractic Clinic over the past 14 years.

Chiropractor Mark Sammons practises the McTimoney Technique and various types of massage, sometimes using specialist equipment to remove the causes of pain and discomfort and to improve movement.

“Many people think chiropractic is only for back problems, but in fact it can also be used to alleviate neck and shoulder pain, muscular aches and pains, sciatica, joint pain and stiffness, and even some types of headache,” says Mark.

Many people don’t realise that chiropractors are medical professionals and as such are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council, which is their equivalent of the General Medical Council for doctors.

Chiropractic is a four or five-year degree course and chiropractors are obliged to undertake continuing study.

“Most patients are amazed at how gentle the technique is and find it very relaxing,” he adds. “Many of them choose to have regular treatments to improve their mobility and reduce their pain.”

Mark will take a full case history to fully analyse your problem, before explaining exactly what to expect from your treatment – without confusing medical jargon.

Positive changes are normally noticed after two to six treatments, although you may need more for best effect and to help prevent a recurrence of the problem.

“Not all patients can be cured completely, but with regular maintenance treatments we can keep the problem under control,” Mark points out.

He can also offer advice on self-help, posture, lifestyle and exercise.

You can find more information on the website, including testimonials from patients and a video of Mark carrying out a treatment.
