Olympic bonding

The Olympics came to Alvechurch this summer. . .  in the shape of a special exhibition by our own resident cartoonist Bob Lawton.

Bob’s creations have been on display at The Crown Inn, Alvechurch. Crown regulars and villagers may recognise themselves in some of the cartoons, which combine the Olympic theme with amusing local scenes.

Bob is a former sports cartoonist for the Birmingham Evening Mail and Sports Argus. In 1976 he won the Punch Olympic cartoon competition, which won him a trip to the Montreal Olympics. He has been a contributor to Private Eye, Tit Bits and the Daily Mirror.

Bob is available for commissions – you can contact him via The Village – and his Olympics cartoons are now on sale in The Village Greengrocer.
