To celebrate National DIY Week this month, Broad Street DIY in Bromsgrove is inviting people to create original art works, using the type of materials available at a hardware store.

The art can be presented in any form – for example a sculpture or picture. All submissions will be entered into a competition, with winners announced on September 20, at the end of DIY Week.

The winner of the under-18 age category will receive a trophy and a £30 Artrix gift voucher. There will be a £50 gift voucher to spend at Broad Street DIY for the winner in the adult category.

Entries can be taken into the Worc-ester Road store until September 17, where they will be displayed for the public to view. Selected entries will also be featured on the shop’s Facebook page.

Justine Humphries, from Hanbury Road Art Studios; and Tony Turpin, Chairman of Bromsgrove Arts Society, will be helping with the judging process. There will also be a voting day for members of the public – who can visit the shop and choose their favourite entry on Friday September 18.

All entrants will receive a 10 per cent discount voucher to use at Broad Street DIY during National DIY Week, subject to certain terms and conditions. For more information call 01527 873555.
