Lorenzo and Omid

A Bromsgrove chef will be featured on television later this month, thanks to a dangerously hot dish he cooked up.

Lorenzo Richards, from The Wildmoor Oak, took part in the filming of a brand-new extreme food series for the Discovery Channel.

Presented by stand-up comedian Omid Djalili (pictured above with Lorenzo), Hot & Dangerous features some of the hottest, most dangerous foods in Britain – exploring the chemistry behind the ingredients and cooking processes.

The TV production crew visited a variety of carefully-selected restaurants as Omid embarked on a spice odyssey to find Britain’s most notorious and hottest dish – the ultimate twist being his complete loathing of spicy food!

Filming at The Wildmoor Oak saw Omid go head to head with one of the pub’s customers, Damion Gardner, as they took on the ultimate hot food challenge: tackling Lorenzo’s extreme jerk wings.

“Before taking the challenge Omid asked me if I had any advice,” says Lorenzo. “I told him to pray and maybe call his nearest and dearest!”

Lorenzo isn’t giving anything away as to how Omid survived his super-hot jerk wings encounter: “You’ll have to watch the programme. . .” he says.

Hot & Dangerous starts on Friday October 24, on the Discovery Channel. The Wildmoor Oak episode will be broadcast on October 31.
