Cover June 2004

A look back at what was happening around here in June 2004.

Our June 2004 cover was a montage of postcards showing local scenes, from a collection owned by Barnt Green resident Edwin Gumbley.

Several more were pictured inside, along with a piece by Edwin about the “golden age” of postcard collecting.

Barnt Green was once again under threat from housing development, as Bromsgrove District Council’s decision not to include the 12 acres of fields around the Barnt Green Inn in its District Local Plan was being challenged in the High Court.

Meanwhile, village residents had organised a petition calling for the 40mph speed limit between Cofton Hackett and Barnt Green to be reduced.
