Coun June Griffiths
June Griffiths, of Bordesley, was declared the new Worcestershire County councillor for the Alvechurch division tonight after getting around half of the votes cast.
The Marlbrook ward on Bromsgrove District Council was taken by John Ruck. Both seats were vacated by the sudden resignation of former county leader George Lord.

Armed raid at village pub

Masked raiders, one armed with a knife, burst into an Alvechurch pub after it had closed and stole the takings after threatening staff.

200-litre acid leak at Hopwood

Hopwood services was the scene of a major containment operation this morning after a tanker containing 23,000 litres of hydrochloric acid was found to be leaking.
Around 200 litres of acid is believed to have leaked from the tanker.
