The Diamond Jubilee Picnic in the Park, co-ordinated by Alvechurch Parish Council and made special by the efforts of many villagers, attracted at least 2,500 people during the day.

A group from Alvechurch Village Hall decided to mark the Jubilee by raising money from donations by local businesses and a raffle at the Picnic in the Park to give a special mug to every child in the parish.
