84 miles in three days

Posted on July 30 2018 at 12:49:18

A group of 17 teachers and parents from Winterfold and Bromsgrove Schools have raised £6,500 for an African school by walking the full 84-mile length of the Hadrian’s Wall Path, from Newcastle to Bowness-on-Solway, in just three days.

For the past 10 years, Winterfold has supported Ncemaneni Primary School in the Natal province of South Africa, where many pupils walk a 15–20 km round trip to school each day – and most do not own any shoes.

The “Hitting-The-Wall Challenge” was launched with the aim of raising £4,000 to buy “the shoe that grows” for the pupils – the shoes are adjusted as the child grows and can last up to five years.
