Affordable homes plan ‘doomed’?

Posted on February 18 2010 at 5:59:44

Plans for 28 affordable homes next to the M42 in Alvechurch looked doomed as The Village went to press.

The application was due to be decided by Bromsgrove planners on March 1 and their officers were recommending refusal because it was inappropriate development in the Green Belt, traffic noise from the motorway would be unacceptable to residents and it could harm the rural aspect of the village.

Meanwhile, the advice to the same meeting over plans for 72 homes on the old schools site in the village was that officers were “minded to approve the application” provided a legal deal could be struck over various issues, including the provision of 25 affordable homes on the site.
