Alight 2005 wants YOU!

Posted on December 01 2004 at 11:10:03

The Alvechurch Alight organising team has gone through a major line-up change and is now appealing for fresh faces to help to put on next year’s festivities.

Spokeswoman Annette English said: “The wonderful pictures of Alvechurch Alight that were published in the November edition of The Village clearly demonstrated that a good time was had by all.

“Planning for Alvechurch Alight 2005 is now under way and we would be really pleased to hear from anyone who would either like to join the organising committee (we meet once per month at the Red Lion) or who would like to help during the weekend itself.

“If you enjoyed the festival this year, then please become involved in helping with Alvechurch Alight 2005 – even one hour of your time would be really appreciated.”

Annette added: “The organising committee would like to thank all those who made the Alvechurch Alight festival 2004 such a great success.

“I would like to particularly thank four people who have finally retired from the organising committee – Chris Burton, Hazel Watkiss, Jo Elliott and Andrew Kirk.”

The committee is hoping that by getting everyone on board now they will avoid the uncertainty that surrounded the event this year.

Until as late as April The Village was carrying letters from villagers pleading for the event to go ahead after talk of skipping the festivities in 2004.
