Bromsgrove Arts Alive, a new umbrella group promoting arts in this area, held its first big event to encourage the public to find out more about the opportunities on their doorstep.

Many of the members held demonstrations and allowed the visitors to try their hand at the various crafts on display at the event at the Artrix arts centre in Bromsgrove.

“There is a wealth of arts and crafts in and around Bromsgrove and we are determined to ensure that it’s accessible to all,” said a spokesman.

There were continuous stage performances in the theatre including drama, readings, music, song, opera and film.

“The BAA team were commended by many of those attending the afternoon and it’s hoped it will become an annual event,” said the spokesman.

“With well over 600 visitors to this free Showcase Day, we will not rest on our laurels, but be spurred on to build on the very positive structure developed.”
