Alvechurch cottage burglary plea

Posted on April 08 2012 at 12:31:56

Police are appealing for witnesses and in particular motorists who passed the scene of a burglary as it was happening in Alvechurch.

A cottage in Cobley Hill was burgled shortly before 1pm on Tuesday April 3 by three men wearing hoods and possibly scarves who parked a silver estate car outside the property.

They jumped over a gateway before breaking in and carrying out a search during which damage was caused. Antique crockery, including a silver plate, and silver cutlery were among items taken. The value is unknown at this time.

Detective Constable Vicky Collier of Bromsgrove CID said: “This happened in broad daylight in a country lane and as there is nowhere to pull off the road it meant other motorists would have had to drive around the car the offenders were using.

“We know from CCTV footage that several vehicles, including a blue car, would have passed the scene at the relevant time and we would really like the drivers or other occupants to contact us. The smallest detail could be useful to our inquiries.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a vehicle of that description hanging around in the area that day or if they think they know who was involved.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Collier on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 430-S-030412, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
