Barnt Green burglary charge

A man was remanded in custody when he appeared in court charged with a house burglary which happened at Barnt Green yesterday afternoon (Monday, 12 May).

Jewellery was stolen in the break-in at Mearse Lane which was reported to police at about 2.45pm.

Anton McIlroy, aged 30, of Oberon Close, Rednal, Birmingham, was arrested in the Frankley area later in the afternoon and taken to Kidderminster Police Station for questioning by detectives from the North Worcestershire burglary team. He was charged overnight with burglary.

Police were alerted to the break-in by members of the public who saw and heard suspicious activity around the property.

Officers have recovered a quantity of jewellery which is believed to have been stolen in the burglary.

McIlroy was brought before Redditch magistrates today (Tuesday 13 May) when he was remanded in custody to next appear at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, 18 June.
