Bells ring out again

New bell in place

St Michael’s Church in Cofton Hackett now has a full complement of bells again, after finally replacing the one that was stolen a year and a half ago.

The new bell cost around £9,000 and was created by the John Taylor & Co bell foundry in Loughborough. It bears an inscription saying: “Cast October 2013 to replace the 1852 William Blews bell stolen in October 2012.”

“The bells were rung for a wedding the day after the installation, and sounded fantastic,” said Rev Rob Fieldson (pictured right with churchwarden Hugh Edwards).

He added that extra security measures are in place to deter thieves.
