Bishop’s bells celebration

Posted on May 20 2013 at 9:57:27

After more than seven years of fundraising and hard work, the restored bells of St Laurence, Alvechurch, are to be dedicated in a service led by the Bishop of Worcester.

The project, which has cost close to £100,000, means the 300-year-old bells will be sound for at least another century.

The service on June 15 begins at 11am with the church tower open from 10am for visitors to see the bells.

* Meanwhile, the Rector of Alvechurch, David Martin, has announced he will be leaving the parish at the end of July after nearly 22 years in the job.
