Blackwell homes site ‘picked’

Posted on October 21 2011 at 9:30:11

Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council has earmarked a site in Greenhill for a Blackwell affordable homes development, councillors heard.

Coun Janet King said: “We have already visited the site and we came to the conclusion that we can make a recommendation for eight to ten houses to be built on the land on Greenhill opposite the church.

“This land would be perfect because it is near the centre of the village, the shop and the bus stop. It would be suitable for maisonettes for older people and semi-detached houses for younger people.

“We know the owner of this site and she has expressed a willingness to sell,” said Coun King, but she added: “There is a long way to go. The money has to be there, there has to be agreement on design; this is just the first step.”

The council heard there had been four sites under consideration and parish chairwoman Jill Harvey told colleagues: “My personal feeling is that other councillors have not seen the list. Can we put this on the November agenda so you can see our recommendations on each site?

“There is no hurry for it because quite frankly it is not going to happen for a long time anyway.”

John Williams agreed, saying: “We want to be clear as a council what we are supporting.”
