Blackwell’s big day out

Conga line

Despite the less-than-perfect weather, Blackwell Festival attracted plenty of residents, friends and neighbours for an afternoon of free fun and games.

The downpours didn’t deter a group of hardy folk from joining a conga line (above) from St Catherine’s Church to the field on St Catherine’s Road to officially start the Festival, and happily the skies brightened enough for everyone to enjoy their picnics.

The many attractions included birds of prey displays, maypole dancing, a bouncy castle, a Punch & Judy show, running races and a tug of war, as well as tea and cakes provided by the WI – and the opportunity to buy a glass of Tardebigge Cider.

The day concluded with a BBQ at Blackwell Club.
