Organisers of a charity event for the Alzheimer’s Society were so pleased with its success that they are planning a repeat later this year.

£3,500 was raised at the event at Lickey End Social Club, thanks to ticket sales, a raffle and sponsorship from local businesses.

Sally Tucker and Chris Szwed organised the event in memory of their mothers, Iris and Irene – lifelong friends who both died suffering from dementia.

More than 150 people enjoyed a fish and chip supper, plus music from local band Dirty Brass. Sally was invited to join them on stage and has since become a backing singer for the band!

Another event is planned for November, with Dirty Brass set to perform – look out for more details nearer the time.

The band will also play at The Red Lion in Alvechurch from 8.30pm on May 4, and hopefully again in June.
