More than 200 Brownies from the Bromsgrove division – which includes Alvechurch, Barnt Green, Tardebigge, Cofton, Lickey and Blackwell – joined together to celebrate 100 years of the Brownie movement.

The girls, all aged seven to 10 and from 12 different Brownie packs, enjoyed a party day with a carnival theme.

They made garlands ready for a samba-based carnival workshop in which they all took part, and each girl put her individual mark on some birthday bunting which was then sewn together to represent unity between different packs.

The day finished with a sing song, birthday cake and giant Smartie cookie with the Brownies singing Happy Birthday

Brownies offers a girls-only space for girls to meet new friends, learn new things about themselves, develop confidence and new skills, and to have fun.
