Cash in the attic?

Posted on August 01 2013 at 10:29:05

Alvechurch residents can find out what their hidden treasures are worth at a FREE Valuation Day.

On Tuesday August 6, a team of experts from Fellows auction house in Birmingham are coming to Alvechurch Village Hall to value any and all antiques and treasures, free of charge.

One of the oldest auction houses in the UK, Fellows has years of experience in valuing antiques, furniture, watches and jewellery, and its specialists have appeared on shows such as Flog It and Cash in the Attic.

From jewellery to coins, simply bring along your items between 10am and 1pm and the specialists will tell you what they’re worth there and then.

For larger items, you can also bring along photographs and a description to get a a provisional estimate.

If you are happy with the estimate, you can put your items into Fellows’ next relevant auction.

“Often we see items at external valuation days that can generate very surprising results,” says antiques and fine art specialist, Mark Huddleston. “It happens more often than you might think.”

A decorative plate brought in by one customer after cleaning out a family member’s garage was marked for throwing out. Brought in for valuation on the off-chance, it eventually sold in a Fellows auction for £1,700.

Fellows auctions generate excitement through exposing items to a large number of highly special buyers which often means items achieve much more than if sold through an antiques dealership.
