Celebrate with canal club

Posted on May 30 2005 at 11:40:11

Canal boats from all over the Midlands region will gather near the Hopwood Inn on June 11 and 12, as the Weighbridge Cruising & Social Club celebrates its 25th anniversary with a Boat Rally.

This bi-annual event will be declared open at 1pm on the Saturday by Steve Keeling from Central News. The theme is “Cowboys and Indians” and a face painter will be on hand to help everyone enter into the spirit of the weekend.

A host of stalls will sell crafts, bric-a-brac, books, toys and a variety of refreshments, while the pub is on hand if you want something stronger.

For those who want to sample life on the canal, a boat will be available to take members of the public for cruises.

The club is a non-profit making club, and all profits, after outgoings, will be donated to a prostate cancer charity and the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association.
