Students and staff from Hunter’s Hill Technology College in Blackwell are celebrating the completion of a triathlon challenge.

Hunter’s Hill, which teaches youngsters with moderate learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties, offers a variety of extra-curricular activities to increase self-esteem and develop teamwork and communication skills.

One such activity was the four-day North to South (N2S) triathlon challenge, in which 10 students and eight members of staff cycled 180 miles, trekked over the top of Pen-y-fan in Brecon (pictured above) and swam the coast of Caernarfon.

Care worker Stephen Hall says: “The challenge was an amazing success, and will give the students many happy memories. The joy and satisfaction on their faces when they reached the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff at the end of the challenge was priceless.”

Funds raised from the event will be used to provide positive opportunities for the students within education, sport, social interaction and working within their community.

Stephen adds: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone in Blackwell and the surrounding areas who donated to this cause – they have been very generous and it is much appreciated.”
