Challenge of a lifetime

The team training in Yorkshire

Blackwell resident Phil Ward and seven colleagues from Azzurri Communications are facing the challenge of a lifetime as they prepare to take the Six Peaks Challenge in support of WaterAid.

The team can normally be found working in the telecommunications industry, but on July 1 they will be on route to the Isle of Man to start their three-day marathon.

“We all like to keep fit, to get out and climb hills or play football,” says Phil, ”but when Azzurri suggested doing this for WaterAid, we all thought we should give it a good go.

“Then we realised that the aim of the Six Peaks Challenge is to visit the summits of the highest peaks of the six regions of the British Isles (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man), all within 72 hours. Now I know we must be mad.

“However, the hard work, sore feet and smelly socks will be worth it if we reach our target of £4,000.”

WaterAid helps to provide clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people. The charity works with local communities and uses a mixture of low-cost technologies to deliver lasting solutions.
