Charity cheque

Cynthia, Wayne, Penny

Cynthia Lawton of the Alvechurch Knit & Natter group presents a cheque for £100 to Wayne and Penny Church in memory of their son Finlay, who lost his battle with a brain tumour last November.

Knit & Natter had raised the funds for Brain Tumour Research through sales of their knitted items.

“We’ve done so well this year that we wanted to give some money to a local cause, and the group members voted overwhelmingly for Finlay’s charity,” says Cynthia.

Members of the group also received a talk on Brain Tumour Research from Penny and Wayne.

Knit & Natter meets every other Monday in the committee room of Alvechurch Village Hall at 1.30pm, and holds regular sales of knitted items including the popular toy hedgehogs (pictured below with their creator, Betty) – so if you haven’t won a Mini Vinny in our competition, you can always buy one!
