Mothers from Lickey Hills Primary School who are fund-raising for a fellow mum’s cancer treatment are hosting another coffee morning in December.

Jill Boeckx, Lisa Dancer, Karen Wood and Tara Bloom, who have already hosted a ball, a raffle and a family fun day, have organised the event in support of Katy Dawson at the Trinity Centre, Lickey on Friday December 16 from 9am to 12noon.

There will be plenty of cake, crafts for sale, soft play and a craft table for little ones.

Katy, whose daughter Aurelia attends the school, was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer earlier this year while pregnant with her son, Evan.

Thanks to initial fundraising, she had her first three-week treatment in Germany in August, which cost around 65,000 Euros. She went again in November (at a cost of 27,000 Euros) and recent results show that her circulating tumour cells have halved.

“Katy now needs to go back every two to three months for boosters, with the hope that these cells will continue to reduce,” says Jill Boeckx.

“The next trip is scheduled for January and so far she has about 10,000 Euros towards it – so we really hope people will support the coffee morning.”
