Community car scheme to continue

Posted on March 29 2018 at 11:49:04

Rural Rides, the long-running Worcestershire community car scheme, has narrowly avoided closure thanks to Community Transport Wyre Forest (CTWF), which has agreed to take over the running of the service.

Run by the Royal Volunteer Service, the scheme relies on volunteer drivers to provide transport for those unable to make essential journeys due to mobility problems or lack of public transport in rural areas.

CTWF’s chief officer Beverley Coldrick offered to help when she heard of the possible loss of the service.

She said: “I know how important this is to local people, and it was an obvious solution to bring Rural Rides under the CTWF umbrella”.

Users are advised to ring 01299 405820 between 9am and 2pm (weekdays) to register with CTWF.
