An Alvechurch resident whose son is battling leukaemia organised a community event to raise funds to fight the disease.

June Jacombs arranged a charity coffee morning at Alvechurch Village Hall in aid of Cure Leukaemia, with villagers enjoying coffee and cakes for a small donation.

There was also a raffle with some great prizes, plus stalls with nearly-new books and toys.

BBC presenter Joanne Malin dropped in to support the cause, and the event raised more than £300 for the charity.

June and the family would like to say a big thank you to everyone who baked cakes, attended the event and offered their help.
