Concern over nursing home’s future

Posted on January 30 2018 at 2:47:45

Lickey residents turned out in force for their parish council’s planning meeting to express their concerns over Lickey Hills Nursing Home.

People living close to the home, on Warren Lane, were worried that its owners had applied for the removal of a planning condition on the building, possibly leading to a change of use.

Even though the home is actually within the parish of Cofton Hackett, Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council had officially objected to the request on behalf of residents because the home’s owners had not revealed their plans for the building.

However, Bromsgrove District Council’s planning department has now given it the go-ahead.

Parish clerk Lisa Winterbourn told The Village that Bromsgrove planners were unable to refuse because the planning condition was a historic restriction that could no longer be enforced.

The Village has since learned that the home is to close entirely.
