Concern over ‘tree clearing’

Posted on April 30 2018 at 10:34:04

Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council has asked Bromsgrove District Council to look into claims that more protected trees have been cleared from an area of land off Cherry Hill Road.

Coun Stephen Nock reported that footage taken by a drone appeared to show that “a large patch” had been cleared.

“[Tree Officer] Gavin Boyes issued a ‘you must replant’ notice back in 2015, which he says he is still chasing up. If a Tree Protection Order was in place, there should be fines as well as replanting.”

He said the parish council had written to Bromsgrove’s planning department for clarification.

Coun Jo Eales said:  “It’s frustrating. If Bromsgrove take no action on this, then other land owners might think they can get away with doing something similar.”
