Lime kilns

A Heritage Open Weekend at the Tardebigge Lime Kilns site attracted visitors from as far away as Toddington and Sussex, with volunteers from the Worcester-Birmingham & Droitwich Canals Society on hand to show off the ongoing conservation work.

The Lime Kilns site, which is located at New Wharf, also features an ancient orchard. Visitors were able to peruse an informative display and view artefacts found at the site, as well as joining walks along the canal.

The Open Weekend was part of a national event organised by English Heritage, with hundreds of areas of conservation and restoration open over the two days.

The Society is in the process of applying for Heritage Lottery Funding for the Lime Kilns, and is encouraging anyone who cares about local heritage to write a letter of support. Visit to download a draft or email fiftyeight@talktalk to get a copy emailed to you.
