Council considers crisis plan

Posted on January 30 2018 at 1:49:45

Alvechurch parish councillors debated the need for the area to have a formal Emergency Plan, as encouraged by Worcestershire County Council.

The plan would need to contain details of buildings that could be used as shelters, and set out how information would be communicated to the public in an emergency situation.

Some felt that a formal plan was unnecessary, particularly as it would be hard to maintain up-to-date lists of vulnerable residents or people with useful equipment, and there may also be data protection implications.

Coun Adrian Smith said: “Surely it is just common sense – people would rally round in an emergency even without a specific plan.”

Coun John Cypher asked colleagues to present ideas for further discussion.
