County ‘should be recycling more’

Worcestershire County Council, which recently rejected a motion to declare a climate change emergency, is not doing enough on recycling, Coun Peter McDonald told Barnt Green parish councillors.

“I’m campaigning for a facility to recycle hard plastics, which now end up in landfill. One local school did a project where the children had to collect plastic, but found there was nowhere to take it!

“The curriculum teaches about climate change, but it seems the local authority isn’t that bothered.”

Parish chairman Robert Cholmondeley added: “There’s just no consistency. Bromsgrove doesn’t collect black plastic or film wrap.”

Meanwhile, St Andrew’s Church in Barnt Green has asked for parish support for its new Eco Group.
