Crossing campaign deadline

Posted on August 31 2017 at 12:41:41

Blackwell residents campaigning against Network Rail’s decision to close the village’s railway crossing point and replace it with a diversion are urging villagers to submit their objections before September 14.

Objections should be sent to county councillor Kit Taylor (you can find his contact details at, and they will then be taken into consideration at the next council meeting before Network Rail seeks to make the closure permanent.

Network Rail ordered the temporary closure of the “yellow brick road” crossing from Fairways Drive to the public footpath across Blackwell golf course in May, citing safety reasons, with walkers diverted via Linthurst Newtown and Blackwell Road.

However, two footpaths across the golf course (numbers 503 and 505) have now been re-opened.
