Date set for Barnt Green public meeting over plan for 98 homes on village field

A public meeting is to be held in Barnt Green for people to air their views about the prospect of the village expanding into green fields towards Birmingham.

It has been organised by the parish council after the publication of the proposals for a minimum of 98 homes on the field behind the Barnt Green Inn.

They are contained in the Draft Bromsgrove District Council Core Strategy 2 in which the council is planning for housing growth of around 4,000 homes up to 2021.

It also foresees the need for a further 2-3,000 homes up to 2026 – which “could include a full Green Belt review if necessary”.

The public meeting is on March 10 at The Friends Meeting House in Sandhills Road starting at 7pm.

Barnt Green Parish Council is first holding a drop-in session at its Hewell Road offices from 1pm-7pm on March 8 for villagers to learn more about the proposals.
