Enjoying an Olde English tradition

The now-annual Wassail in Lickey Hills Country Park saw around 100 people in attendance, with the event made even more atmospheric by a flurry of snow.

After a foot-tapping opener at the Visitors Centre, with “Step on Board” Appalachian dancers ably supported by musician and MC Bob Bignell, the crowd moved to the Community Orchard to partake in a warming beverage provided by the rangers.

The revellers paraded around the orchard making enough noise to keep the devil away and ensure a bountiful harvest from the many fruit trees planted by the Lickey Hills Society and volunteers – and everyone enjoyed a specially-written play of devilish humour, acted by the rangers!
