Flying start for Alvechurch youth club

Posted on April 30 2010 at 12:33:03

Alvechurch Youth club got off to a flying start last night, when it opened its doors for the first time. 46 young people attended the session which was run by the four youth leaders from the Rylands Centre in Bromsgrove who will be supporting the project up until September 2010
Two local bands - The Cosmics and Spoilt Child provided the entertainment and gave great performances which were well received by youngsters.
A good mix of young people attended and ages ranged from 12 - 18, with the majority of attendees being 12 and 13.
A small number of adult volunteers were also there to help, including the youth club committee (who ran a tuck shop) and the two local Community Support Officers.
The whole evening was extremely positive: the behaviour of the young people was excellent, many of them were already making suggestions and coming up with ideas for what they would like to see at the club in future weeks and many indicated that they would be coming back again next week.
The youth club will take place EVERY THURSDAY at the SOCIAL CLUB
There will also be an OPEN EVEN on TUESDAY 25 MAY at 7.30pm at the social club for anyone who doesn’t fit into the 12-18 age bracket but who would like to find out more about the club or who may be willing to volunteer or help in some way.

“We really hope you will be able to come along to this event,” said Kate Ven Der Plank, of the youth club management committee
