Fundraiser for blood charity

Posted on October 25 2006 at 5:04:03

Sue Evans and friends are holding a fund-raising event at her home – The Barn, School Lane, Alvechurch –  to raise money for Tainted Blood.

This is a charity set up by Sue’s son, Andrew, to help survivors of the blood products scandal which infected haemophiliacs with viruses such as HIV and Hepatitus C in the 1980s.

Andrew, who grew up in Alvechurch and now lives in Moseley, Birmingham, is one of around 370 survivors of the 1,200 haemophiliacs to have been infected with HIV.

The Alvechurch event on November 18 runs from 10.30am-3.30pm and will feature books for sale, a raffle, cake stall, “guess the weight of the Christmas cake” and many other stalls.

There will also be the opportunity to have a portrait photograph taken and printed by a professional cameraman for only £5 including a frame.

Sue says: “Please come along between 10.30am and 3.30pm and support the work that Andrew is trying to do.”
