Hair to help Haiti

Posted on April 21 2010 at 1:05:06

The Michelle Griffin team

The Michelle Griffin Hair Academy in Barnt Green has raised £3,522 for the Red Cross Haiti Appeal by hosting a Red Carpet Charity Evening with invited clients, local businesses, press and VIPs.

After a champagne reception served by hunky butlers, the evening began with an inspirational talk from local fireman Lee Ivory, who went out to Haiti to help rescue earthquake victims the day that the tragedy happened.

He showed images of the ruined buildings and the tragedies that his team were faced with; this really brought home to everyone why every little bit of help is so valuable.

The Michelle Griffin Art Team then presented a hair and fashion show in conjunction with local boutique Prom World, whilst opera singer Pip Langhorne gave a breathtaking performance of some classical pieces.

The hair show demonstrated new season trends in movement, texture, and colour before the presentation of Michelle Griffin’s new collection Wonderland. Local company Beautoxology then presented a mini seminar on their beauty services and gave advice on skin and health care.

The charity auction was a highlight of the evening, with all lots donated by local businesses, events organisers, fashion houses and retailers. Items included a prom dress, hair and beauty services, a weekend away, designer sunglasses, football and music memorabilia, and a family portrait sitting.

“Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and the quake has had a massive impact on a population already reeling from other recent disasters. We are so pleased to have managed to raise £3,522 to help the people of Haiti in their desperate need,”  said Michelle Griffin.

The team were delighted by the support and involvement from so many individuals and companies, including:
