The Acorns Children’s Hospice shop in Barnt Green has reopened after a revamp.

The new-look premises on Hewell Road now features an increased choice of women’s wear and accessories, and more space for its selection of children’s wear and toys.

The reopening was celebrated with a drinks reception when staff greeted shoppers with a glass of Buck’s fizz.

One of 59 Acorns shops, the Barnt Green branch has always had a “boutique” feel – It sells only women’s and children’s clothing, women’s accessories, toys and books. Many of the items donated to the shop are unused or nearly new.

Shop manager Sandra Redfern said:  “We are really pleased with the new look. We now have more space for our merchandise, providing shoppers with more choice than ever. We only had to close for five days and the results have made it worthwhile.

“As well as shopping here, we want people to donate good quality items for our revamped retail space. It’s easy to drop items off as there is parking opposite the store.”

Items can be brought into the shop during the opening hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

Acorns doesn’t charge families for making use of its services, regardless of the ever-increasing costs involved. The charity relies heavily on public fundraising and voluntary donations to provide the majority of the funding needed to operate.

Donating good quality items is a quick way to help support Acorns’ vital work.
