Luke's house

Alvechurch artist Luke Harkus-Jefferies impressed the public and experts alike with his entry in Wolverhampton Art Gallery’s Open West Midlands Exhibition, winning the People’s Prize Award and £100 prize money.

His piece, Untitled (2008), was a firm favourite with visitors, who cast more than 500 votes.

The work presents two viewpoints of what seems to be a quintessential family home in the form of a dolls house, allowing the viewer to play the voyeur and explore the house through windows and peepholes.

On one side is a calm interior, while the other shows a bloodstained cellar – the site for a violent attack.

Luke recently gained a Fine Art HND at NEW College, and is now studying BA Hons Animation at Birmingham University.
