Intrepid teens

An intrepid group of Village teens completed a cycle ride from John O’ Groats to Land’s End as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.

The group of 17-year-olds rode 1,060 miles in 14 days, sometimes cycling up to 120 miles per day.

They had chosen this challenge themselves, and were supported by Horizon Expeditions both on the ride itself and during the year of preparation – which included personal training and nutrition, bike maintenance and road awareness.

On arrival at Land’s End, the cyclists were greeted by a 150-strong surprise welcoming party of their families and friends.

Now that their Gold Award is complete, many are planning to join further cycle challenges in the near future.
