Lickey & Blackwell news round-up

Posted on May 27 2014 at 10:20:38

Bromsgrove District Council’s failure to create the promised cross-party working group for Marlbrook Tip is “totally unsatisfactory”, Lickey & Blackwell Parish Council heard.

District councillor Brian Cooper told the parish council’s Annual Meeting that there was an “impasse” between the party leaders, which had not yet been resolved.

He said this meant that meetings to decide the composition of the group, made up of local residents and councillors, had not gone ahead – which explains why those who applied to join the panel are still awaiting a response.

* At the same meeting, Coun Nick Forknell reported that he had received an email from Worcestershire County Council with a new proposal for the parking problems outside Lickey Hills Primary School.

It is thought that this would include limiting parking to one side of the Old Birmingham Road, and enforceable restrictions on the bus bay and the anti-skid area around the crossing.

However, the exact details were not known because a drawing of the plans had not been attached to the email.

* Plans for a Youth Parish Council for Lickey & Blackwell are said to be progressing well.

A group of youngsters met with Couns Janet King and Jill Harvey, and aim to meet again after exam season as well as visiting Clent Youth Parish Council for ideas.

* The Parish Council’s Facebook page now has 42 likes, and residents are encouraged to use it to find out what’s going on in the parish.
