Litter-pick boost for green village

Posted on September 30 2019 at 3:15:08

The campaign for a Cleaner, Greener Alvechurch, launched by independent district councillor Kate Van Der Plank this summer, received a boost with the introduction of a “Two-Minute Litter Pick” board at The Meadows.

The board, provided by Bromsgrove District Council as part of a national initiative, holds litter pickers and bags so that visitors to the park can spend a few minutes collecting litter before taking it home to be disposed of or recycled.

Coun Van Der Plank is delighted with the start to the campaign: “We had great attendance at our open meeting, and more than 200 people have already joined our Facebook group.”

Along with fellow independent councillor Annette English, Coun Van Der Plank has also set up working parties to look at recycling, green spaces and sustainable living as well as the problem of litter.
