Blackwell Concert Band

After another successful playing season, Blackwell Concert Band are finishing the year by hosting a charity concert for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday November 30 at St Andrew’s Church in Barnt Green, and will welcome in the Christmas season with a number of festive favourites and sing-along tunes.

Charity concerts have quickly become an annual tradition for the band, following very successful concerts in Barnt Green in 2011 and last year at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham. These, combined with other fundraising activities during the year, have so far raised in excess of £4,000 for Macmillan.

The charity is close to the heart of several members of the band, particularly band secretary Vicky Stock – who, since first finding out she had breast cancer in 2009, has gone on to support the charity by becoming one of their volunteer fundraising officers as well as setting up a support group and raising awareness through her own experiences.

Vicky is now recovering well following a double mastectomy and reconstruction treatment and she is keen to help raise even more money for the charity that has helped her through a difficult few years.

Vicky says, “I am very proud of the hard work and effort the band has gone to in order to raise money for such a vital charity. Macmillan is a very well respected charity and its support is so essential to people going through cancer, enabling them to realise they are not alone.”

The evening is sure to be a very enjoyable one with something for everyone.

To obtain a ticket (£8 or £5 concessions) please contact Vicky Stock on 0121 244 1662 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
