Maths wins in Rip memorial

Posted on August 26 2013 at 11:12:52

Max and Amy

The second football match in memory of Alvechurch teacher Peter Rippington raised £540 for Alvechurch Football Club, where the game was played.

Peter’s son Max and daughter Amy (above) again captained the teams, named after the subjects “Rip” taught at Alvechurch Middle School until his death in the ski trip coach crash in February 2012.

Around 300 people turned up to watch Max’s Mathematicians beat Amy’s Athletes 5–3, with the goal of the match scored by Dane Morgan – a long range effort that started outside the post, only to swerve back at the last second.

“We decided to organise a match again this year as it’s a great way for people to remember our dad, who was highly thought of in the community, and to raise a bit of money for the local football club,” says Max.

“A massive thank you to Alvechurch FC for hosting, and also to everyone who attended and showed their support.”
