Moved to help our heroes

A TV programme showing Princes William and Harry visiting injured servicemen and women has inspired two Barnt Green women to hold a fund-raising evening.

Sheila Hastilow and Betty Ingram are putting on the event at Burcot Village Hall, with a supper followed by entertainment from stand-up comedian David Huband.

Sheila told The Village: “I was terribly moved by the programme because one of my granddaughters is married to a chap in the RAF and he has been out to Afghanistan and Iraq and I have seen the torture she goes through.”

So she and Betty decided to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity, which is aiming to help Headley Court, the rehabilitation centre in the programme featuring the Princes.

Tickets for the supper on August 9 are £20. Anyone who would like to find out more can call Betty on 0121 445 4077.
