New road ‘paves way for flood of houses’

Posted on August 22 2011 at 12:30:15

Campaigners in Brockhill, on the north edge of Redditch, are warning that development plans to be decided this month could open up a route for new Green Belt housing on the edge of Alvechurch and Tardebigge.

Brockhill Action Group, which aims to protect the Green Belt border between Redditch and Bromsgrove, says a Persimmon application for 800 homes in Brockhill includes a “major distributor link road” which would allow incursion into Bromsgrove district.

“The areas in Bromsgrove that will most directly be affected are Alvechurch, Bordesley, Tutnall and Tardebigge although other developers might well target other areas if Persimmon get the go ahead,” warns the group.

It believes developers aim to build “thousands“ of homes on Bromsgrove Green Belt land.

The Persimmon Homes application is due to be considered by Redditch on September 7.
