New season of concerts begins

Posted on September 01 2015 at 3:45:20

The first concert of Bromsgrove School Concert Club took place on October 22, 1963 with a piano recital by Nina Milkina.

This organisation later became Bromsgrove Concert Club and then Bromsgrove Concerts, and it has continued to present an annual series of concerts to the present day.

On Sept 25 this year the 53rd season of chamber music concerts will open with a performance by the renowned Carducci String Quartet (pictured). This year, to mark the 40th anniversary of Shostakovich’s death, they will play all 15 of his string quartets at venues worldwide, including three at the Bromsgrove concert.

The season will continue with performances by some of the country’s best musicians, including the Leonore Piano Trio, the Tippett String Quartet, the guitarist Craig Ogden, and the Jenkinson-Frith Duo, both of whom are known locally for their work with the Orchestra of St John.

All concerts will take place at Artrix (where there is ample free parking). For the full programme, see and for tickets contact Artrix on 01527 577330, or in person at the box office (10am–4pm, Mon–Sat).
