An Oakalls youngster represented Great Britain in archery in her first international competition.

Nicole Burdett, aged 16 and a pupil at South Bromsgrove High School, has been a keen archer since taking part in a “have a go” session at Alvechurch Middle School in 2012.

After achieving her selection shoot scores and competing at the first selection shoot of the year, Nicole was selected to represent her country at the European Youth Cup in Rovereto, Italy.

With a score of 581 out of 720 in qualification, Nicole was up against a Russian athlete in the head-to-head, and was beaten in a close match.

She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and says it has given her an appetite for more international competitions.

Nicole shoots for Bowflights Archery Club in Longbridge, as well as attending the Archery GB National Age Group Academy.
